How did KP Learning Company come to be?
Welcome to KP Learning Company! We are Kristen & Paola, the KP behind KP Learning Company. We are healthcare professionals that want to bridge the gap between clinical practice and academia, as we understand firsthand the disconnect that exists between the two worlds.
Working in healthcare ourselves, we recognized the need for a to provide real-life, work-specific examples with simplified explanations that resonate with healthcare providers. We are driven by the desire to understand the "why" behind things, so we can confidently navigate the "how" when faced with significant healthcare challenges. Many of our colleagues feel the same and would come to us for help so we decided to create a course on helping you understand data (as a start!). To do this, we created a virtual space where you can gain these skills and expertise. Once we put this out to the world, we have received so much feedback on other needs and will be expanding KP Learning Company overtime!

Throughout her career, Kristen has gained extensive experience and training in conducting evaluations and research studies aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery. She has been instrumental in leading the management of large databases, allowing for the analysis of comprehensive healthcare data. This data has served as a valuable resource for her research projects, which have been conducted in collaboration with various health service organizations.
The outcomes of Kristen's work are evident in her impressive track record of over 20 peer-reviewed publications. Her research has contributed significantly to the body of knowledge surrounding psychiatric and substance use disorders, providing valuable insights and evidence-based recommendations for improving health services in these areas.

Paola Nikodem (she/her/elle) is a registered nurse with a rich background in healthcare. With experience in critical care, cancer care, education, community care and program development, Paola has developed expertise in the field of addictions medicine since 2014.

While working in the community, Paola pursued a master's degree in public health with a nursing specialization. This academic achievement further deepened her
understanding of nursing practice within the realm of public health.
Over the years, Paola has held various leadership positions within mental health and addictions, including roles as a coordinator, manager, and most recently as the
regional education & quality lead for addictions services. She is a strong advocate for ongoing education and actively seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge and
stay abreast of the latest developments in healthcare. With a deep-rooted
passion for leveraging her nursing expertise and leadership skills, Paola is
committed to making meaningful contributions to healthcare and improving the
lives of individuals living with addictions and mental health challenges.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Paola takes great pride in being a dedicated parent to two beautiful children. She finds immense joy and inspiration in her family life, emphasizing the importance of balance and the significance of cherishing moments with loved ones.
